Given the latest Covid-19 updates, theatres all around the UK are closing their doors.

Following current guidance from Durham University and the UK Government, the Assembly Rooms Theatre is to close for April and to review our May productions in due course if necessary.

It is with great regret that we are announcing that our upcoming performances of “It Felt Empty When The Heart Went At First But It’s Alright Now” and “The Durham Showcase” will both be cancelled.

This is an extremely disappointing circumstance, but one which is out of our control and in the interest of public safety. Rest assured that if you have a ticket for either production you should have been informed and will receive a full refund.

So that’s what we are up to… working from home and drowning in cups of Yorkshire tea.

In this time of closures and uncertainty, please look after each other and put public health and safety first. Keep an eye on our social media and website for our summer season details, our re-opening dates as well as lots of pictures of dogs. Because everyone needs dogs.

Until then, all the theatrical best, from the AR Team xx
