Our theatre is equipped with a lift from street level to the Box Office and up to our Bar, accessible bathroom and Auditorium Balcony.

This balcony has room for two wheelchairs and seats for carers, which are free with the purchase of a wheelchair ticket. We also have an Evac+Chair.

We ask that if you need accessible seating, you contact the Theatre prior to your visit so that the Duty Manager can be on hand to assist with any additional requirements.

The lift also goes down to our workshop for budding creatives with accessibility requirements.

Guide dogs are welcome in all parts of the Theatre. Please let us know if you will need further assistance during your visit.

At the management’s discretion, tickets may be exchanged up to 24hrs before a performance, subject to availability. Tickets must be for the same production and any difference in price must be paid.

We are only able to offer refunds in the most extenuating circumstances, entirely at the discretion of management. Tickets otherwise must be exchanged for another performance by contacting the Theatre.

If the performance you are booked to attend cannot go ahead as planned, you will receive an email providing you with options including transferring to a new performance, or receipt of a full refund.

Wherever possible, you will be offered the equivalent day, time and seats for the rescheduled performance with no change in price and any specific access requirements will of course be applied to the booking.

There may be occasions when it is not possible to offer like for like transfers; we will do our best to accommodate you to a performance as close to your original booking as we can, or in those instances where that is impossible, offer a full refund.

Concession tickets are available for students, those individuals 65 or over, children under the age of 18, and unwaged individuals.

However, if you are not included in the list above, but believe you would benefit from a reduced-cost ticket, please contact us.

As we are based on a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we do not have car parking readily available.

Our closest car parks are those at Prince Bishops (5m walk), and at Walkergate (10m walk).

We also have a drop-off spot directly outside the Theatre, but this is closely controlled by the local authority and is not suitable for long-term parking.

Durham City Centre is well-serviced by public transport.

The train station provides ready access to Durham City Centre, and the Cathedral shuttle bus will take you almost directly to our front door.

You can also find many public transport links to Chester-le-Street, Bishop Auckland, Darlington, Sunderland, and the surrounding villages at Durham Bus Station, the Leazes Rd bus stops, or the bus stop on Church St, all within a 5 minute walk of the Theatre.

Our seats are 42cm wide by 47cm deep, with fixed armrests. Our layout is viewable by clicking through to buy tickets.

If you would prefer a seat without armrests, please email us in good time ahead of your visit, and we will endeavour to accommodate you in our accessible seating area of the Balcony. Please note that there is very limited space, but we will do our best to allocate accessible seating on a fair basis.
