Introduction to playwriting programme.

An introduction to plays, how they work and how you might go about starting to write one. Led by local award-winning playwright, Christina Castling, this series of 5 workshops will have you go from blank page to 10 minute play and will include practical advice, writing exercises and group discussion. The series will end with your work being read by professional actors a series of feedback. So, whether you’re totally new to playwriting or have an idea you’re already working on, this will help you make your next steps. Grab a pen and some paper and come along!

– Tuesday 16th Feb: 7:30-8:30pm

– Tuesday 23rd Feb: : 7:30-8:30pm

– Tuesday 2nd Mar: : 7:30-8:30pm

– Tuesday 9th Mar: : 7:30-8:30pm

– Tuesday 16th Mar: : 7:30-8:30pm

Get involved

The workshop is open to anyone of anyone aged 16+ and from any background, be that sixth form, university or beyond; all we are looking for is playwriting enthusiasm. Places are limited so if you’d like be take part please email [email protected] by midnight on the 11th February with max 50 words on why you’d like to take part. Should you be accepted into the programme there will be a small fee of £10 which will cover the cost for all 5 sessions.

About Christina

Christina Castling is a Durham-based playwright whose work has won Trinity College London’s International Playwriting Competition, been performed as far afield as New Zealand and been toured by Northumberland Theatre Company. Her writing has depth and playful honesty, often asking questions about belonging, identity and home. Her current play, A Way Home, is due to tour in Summer 2021.
