Artist in Residence Opportunity for Local Emerging Artists

WE ARE THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY THAT THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS THEATRE IS ONCE AGAIN OFFERING A WEEK FREE REHEARSAL AND SCRATCH SPACE FROM 16TH – 20TH JULY. We are looking in particular for theatre companies operating in the North East and Yorkshire who are developing new work. The week will run from 9am – 5pm with the free run of the building including auditorium, workshop, dressing rooms and green room – for that essential tea break mid-rehearsal! To apply – please email us with a covering letter of what you want to use the space for and why to theatre.manager@durham.ac.uk by Friday 8th June. We welcome any application by any company or solo artist. This opportunity is a great way for you to not only have a rehearsal space for free, but allows you to get to know us as a venue better – and who knows where that relationship might lead! The festival of arts approaches!

Durham Festival of the Arts is back and bigger than ever! We here at The Assembly Rooms Theatre are thrilled to be hosting the festival. An exciting 3 week festival running from 1st-25th June, this year is set to be the biggest yet! The festival, organised by Music Durham and Durham Student Theatre, features a whole host of events from concerts to masterclasses, plays to photography exhibitions and so much more, in a number of venues across the city. Festival events are now starting to be advertised throughout the city, so keep an eye out! DFoA is for all of Durham to enjoy; with plenty of opportunities to get involved for students and the local community alike.
